Stewart Falls

A week or so ago we went up and stayed at a cabin in Sundance with family and we had so much fun. when we told the kids where we were going they cheered right away because they knew that their 'Cousins" were going to be there and that it has a slide down stairs. We just stayed the night and the next day Jax, dave, Brynlee and I hiked up to Stewart falls. Maddison decided to stay behind because she was having a grumpy day;) It was a short yet perfect hike and the reaction Jaxton had when we got there was worth it. He was so excited yet did not want to get close to it.

Park City

While Dave went to Lake Powell we decided we would have our own fun so Friday we went down to the county and when up to park city in the alpine slide and then we met up with my grandma who was camping in midway for dinner. The mini trip was a blast and the kids loved the slide:)

Ketchikan

Ketchikan was the next stop and if I am boring you with all the Alaska posts so sorry just journal entrys here. In Ketchikan we visited the Salmon Tribal Hatchery where we learned all about salmon, the five types, the best kinds to eat, when they swim up stream and now I am officially a salmon expert. Yep I should get a badge in the shape of a salmon and if you have any questions about salmon feel free to give a call. We also went to the bald eagle refuge where they keep bald eagles that have been injured. It was great to see them so up close. After our tours we walked down a path and there were all these rubber duckies down the stream it was awesome. We went to Ketchicandies and picked up some chocolate but I was not to impressed I think Mrs. Cavanaugh's is way better. Then back to the boat we went.

Skagway

Next stop was Skagway and it was a wee bit chilly willy to say the least. We got off the boat and I thought for sure I was going to be a Popsicle before the end of the day. It was hard to go from Utah weather of 95 to Alaska weather of 40. But I put on my big girl pants and my Alaska beenie and we walked around the town. It was a cute little town they had a cool frat house that was make from wood and then we went to the saloon and they had a cool display of what it was like back in the day with fun things that they had found in the floor boards when they were remodeling it. We then met up with the fam and headed out on the Skagway train. Which was a four hour train ride through the mountains where we saw beautiful scenery and waterfalls and a BEAR. Yep a bear that made the trip worth while. I checked that off the lists of things to see while on the trip and it was great.  The little kaboose on the bottom left is where you can stay the night so you know where Dave and I will be staying next time we are in Skagway.

Juneau

The first stop was Juneau and boy was I so glad to see land I got a little squeemish from the boat rocking and rolling. We went on the deck and our first glance of Juneau was so green and you could see a huge waterfall from the town. The crew decided to go whale watching and Dave and I decided to stay back and just walk around the town. So a few adventures happened and Dave's dad got sick before they went whale watching so we took him back to the boat and got him settled and then we were off like a herd or turtles walking through the town. Unknown to me Dave had his eyes set to find the trail to the waterfall and get a closer look. So we are walking and walking and then we were in the mountains and of course I am thinking we better stay in town if someone jumps us and throws us in the river we are goners.But we carried on anyways and came to this awesome bridge that was made out of wood. so we took a few pics of that then found a trail and followed a ways and saw tons of little waterfalls and lots of green trees. We headed back to the boat and saw this cute purple house with lots of beautiful flowers. It was fun to explore the town and i am glad to say we did not get jumped and had a great time.

8 Years

We celebrated our 8th anniversary on the cruise to Alaska. It was nice a relaxing day and that night it just happened to be formal night so we dressed up all fancy for dinner and ate and ate and ate. They decorated our door with a sign and balloons and they sang the "Happy Anniversary" song to us at dinner. That day was a day at sea so we just goofed around, went to the hot tubs a lot and whenever we could not find Dave we knew to check the sauna because he practically lived in there. We did a ton of eating and I think I had like 15 milkshakes on the cruise. That is probably why I brought home a few pounds from the cruise but hey who doesn't. Oh ya DAVE but hey I am not jealous or anything:)

Last night we had the opportunity to go see a bees game and it was a blast. Daves work had a deal where you could go to the game and have dinner. They did a great job and the kids loved it. Maddison got to go down on the field and participate in a kids race during the warm up between innings. She did great and came in second. They had to take their stick horses and run to the bee and back. Then after the game there was fireworks and wow they were so close. It was a great night!
